Developmental Delay

Children can present with delays in one or more of the following domains:

  • Communication. This includes both expressive langage (talking) and receptive language (comprehension).
  • Gross motor skills. That is general physical activity like walking, climbing and running.
  • Fine motor skills such as drawing, cutting and threading.
  • Social skills.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Cognitive or learning skills.

If you suspect delays these areas can be investigated and, if necessary, referrals made to appropriate services.
